Being immersed in a culture so different from my own challenged me to adapt and grow, while meeting the most remarkable people. From exploring Stockholm’s rich history to navigating the nuances of Swedish life, every moment became an opportunity to learn and thrive in an entirely new environment. This experience will stay with me forever, shaping not only the way I see the world, but also how I see myself.

The Swedish Program gave me more than just an academic experience—it introduced me to a close-knit group of friends who feel like family. Through shared adventures, cultural exploration, and countless moments of laughter, I’ve built bonds that I know will last a lifetime, no matter where we are in the world.

The Swedish Program was a wonderful introduction to a new city and culture I had never experienced before. The activities, accommodations and connections organized by the program helped facilitate my integration and ensured I felt well connected with the vibrant community around me. By the end of my semester abroad, I felt a warmth and comfort living in Stockholm as well as a strong desire to return in the future.

Additional Acceptance Steps

Read the student handbook

As noted above, you are required to read our Student Handbook prior to registering so that you understand our policies related to academics, activities, housing, conduct, finances, and other matters. We recommend paying particular attention to the Pre-Departure & ArrivalAcademics, and Conduct sections.

We recommend reading this brief overview of the residence permit process. After you register, you will receive a comprehensive Residence Permit Guide with detailed step-by-step instructions. Don’t start the process until you receive our guide!

In accordance with FERPA and GDPR privacy laws, we will communicate directly with you for all matters related to your semester in Stockholm, including financial matters. You are responsible for sharing relevant information with other parties. This may include your family, academic and study abroad advisors, Financial Aid and Student Accessibility offices, your doctor, and others.

Make sure you understand your school’s policies related to studying abroad, including any applicable deadlines, credit requirements, financial policies, and billing procedures.

We’re happy to answer your questions, connect you with a recent alum, or schedule time to discuss any facet of the Program in more detail. Don’t hesitate to contact us!

Financial Information

Program Fees

Deposit: If your acceptance email indicates you must pay a deposit, please submit it by your registration deadline. For payment options, click here or refer to your acceptance email. Financially aided students who are unable to cover the deposit amount by the registration deadline should contact us to make alternate arrangements.

If your acceptance email does not mention the deposit, that means that your home school will cover the deposit on your behalf, so you do not need to take any action related to the deposit.

Payment Schedule: Your acceptance email included a payment schedule that outlines the tuition, room, and board payments that are due to the Swedish Program. Please refer to the Student Handbook to see What’s Included in your tuition, room, and board.

Your home school may have their own additional study abroad fees, so please consult directly with your study abroad office.

Refund & Penalty Schedule: Please review the Refund & Penalty Schedule in the Student Handbook to understand your financial liabilities should you withdraw after registration.

Additional Expenses

Invoice: The Program will send you an Additional Expenses invoice that may include, as applicable to your registration, the refundable apartment deposit, the optional cultural excursion fee, and the official transcript fee. Payment is due by April 1 (fall term and academic year) or October 5 (spring term). You will receive the invoice approximately 2–3 weeks before payment is due. Financially aided students may request a fee waiver if their financial aid does not cover the optional excursion fee; please ask your Financial Aid Office to complete the Fee Waiver Form by April 1 (fall term and academic year) or October 5 (spring term).

Other Expenses: Please review the other Additional Expenses in the Student Handbook for a detailed breakdown of additional expenses, including your flights to and from Stockholm, residence permit fee, refundable apartment deposit, optional excursion fee, and estimated monthly expenses to assist with financial planning.

Financial Support Requirement: Please note that the Swedish Migration Agency has established a financial support requirement of 11,760 Swedish kronor (SEK) per semester in Stockholm. As part of the residence permit application, you must demonstrate that you meet this requirement through bank statements and/or a letter from your Financial Aid Office.
