You will be issued an invoice for the following additional expenses as applicable to your registration. Payment is due by April 1 (fall term and academic year) or October 15 (spring term). You will receive the invoice approximately 2–3 weeks before payment is due.

This deposit is required for students living in our student apartments.

Please note that the Swedish Migration Agency has established a financial support requirement of 11,760 Swedish kronor (SEK) per semester in Stockholm. As part of the residence permit application, you must demonstrate that you meet this requirement through bank statements and/or a letter from your Financial Aid Office. Please see the Residence Permit Guide for more information.

Other Optional Expenses #

Monthly personal expenses
Stockholm, like most capital cities, is expensive. This estimate is extremely variable as it depends on your lifestyle and personal consumption. It is possible to spend less given that the Program provides housing, a food subsidy, public transportation passes, gym access, health insurance, and optional activities.

Allow 5 days before the due date to ensure timely posting of your payment.  Your bank can issue a check directly to The Swedish Program from your checking account through the Bill Pay option available through online banking. Please contact Ali Gluck at least 2-3 business days before the due date for instructions (admin@swedishprogram.org or (315) 737-0123). ACH is an electronic transfer from your checking or savings account to The Swedish Program’s bank account. A convenience fee of 1% is added to each ACH Transfer payment.

Debit or Credit Card #

Please contact Ali Gluck at least 2-3 business days before the due date for instructions (admin@swedishprogram.org or (315) 737-0123). A convenience fee of 2.99% is added to each debit or credit card payment.


Withdrawal Policy #

The Swedish Program goes to work on each student’s housing placement upon enrollment and makes other financial commitments on behalf of enrolled students soon after receiving the initial deposit. Therefore, students who withdraw after registering are subject to the refund and penalty schedule outlined below.

Refunds exceeding the specified amount or submitted after the specified dates will only be considered for health-related reasons concerning the student or their immediate family. Please inform the Program of your intent to withdraw for medical reasons and ask your treating physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, or similar to complete the Medical Withdrawal Form within two weeks. Students withdrawing for medical reasons may request to defer their admission to a later semester.


Refund and Penalty Schedule #

Fall 2025–Spring 2026 #

Students who withdraw before departure will receive a full refund for the apartment deposit and transcript fee, assuming those costs have been paid. There are no refunds for the optional excursion fees.

Fall 2025 #

  • Withdrawal before February 15: $400 refund of the initial deposit (assuming the deposit was paid before February 15).
  • Withdrawal on or after February 15 but before May 1: no refund of the initial deposit.
  • Withdrawal on or after May 1 but before July 1: 25% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
  • Withdrawal on or after July 1 but before August 1: 50% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
  • Withdrawal on or after August 1: No refund.
  • Withdrawal after departure: No refund.

Spring 2026 #

  • Withdrawal before September 15: $400 refund of the initial deposit (assuming the deposit was paid before September 15).
  • Withdrawal on or after September 15 but before November 1: No refund of the initial deposit.
  • Withdrawal on or after November 1 but before December 1: 25% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
  • Withdrawal on or after December 1 but before January 1: 50% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
  • Withdrawal on or after January 1: No refund.
  • Withdrawal after departure: No refund.

Academic Year 2025–2026 #

Students who withdraw before the required Arrival Day of August 24, 2026 will receive a full refund for the apartment deposit and transcript fee (if applicable).

Tuition, room, and board costs may be eligible for a refund, less a penalty, based on the date of withdrawal:

  • On or before April 30: No penalty applied to tuition, room, and board costs.
  • Between May 1 and May 31: 25% penalty on tuition, room, and board costs, equivalent to $9,313.50.
  • Between June 1 and July 31: 50% penalty on tuition, room, and board costs, equivalent to $18,627.
  • On or after August 1: No refund of tuition, room, or board will be issued.

Please note:

  • The $500 program deposit and optional excursion fee are non-refundable.
  • No tuition, room, or board refunds will be issued for withdrawals made on or after Arrival Day.

Spring 2027 #
