The Swedish Migration Agency has established a monthly financial support requirement of 2,865 Swedish Krona (SEK) per month. As part of the residence permit application, you must demonstrate that you meet this requirement. Please see the Residence Permit Guide.

Stockholm, like most capital cities, is expensive. This estimate is extremely variable as it depends on your lifestyle and personal consumption. It is possible to spend less given that the Program provides housing, a food subsidy, public transportation passes, gym access, health insurance, and optional activities. | |

Payment Schedule #
Payment schedules vary by school, so please refer to the payment schedule provided upon your acceptance into the Program.
Withdrawal Policy #
The Swedish Program goes to work on each student’s housing placement upon enrollment and makes other financial commitments on behalf of enrolled students soon after receiving the initial tuition deposit.
Therefore, there are financial penalties for withdrawal. Payment schedules vary depending on the policy of your home institution. However, any student who withdraws is subject to the refund and penalty schedule below.
Refunds beyond the amount and past the dates specified below will only be considered for reasons of health concerning the student or the student’s immediate family. Please ask your treating physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, or similar to complete the Medical Withdrawal Form. Students who withdraw for such reasons may request to have their admission deferred to a subsequent semester.
Refund and Penalty Schedule #
Fall 2024 #
- Withdrawal before February 15: $400 refund of the initial deposit (assuming the deposit was paid before February 15).
- Withdrawal on or after February 15 but before May 1: no refund of the initial deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after May 1 but before July 1: 25% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after July 1 but before August 1: 50% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after August 1: No refund.
- Withdrawal after departure: No refund.
Spring 2025 #
- Withdrawal before September 15: $400 refund of the initial deposit (assuming the deposit was paid before September 15).
- Withdrawal on or after September 15 but before November 1: No refund of the initial deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after November 1 but before December 1: 25% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after December 1 but before January 1: 50% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after January 1: No refund.
- Withdrawal after departure: No refund.
Academic Year 2024–2025 #
- Withdrawal before February 15: $400 refund of the initial deposit (assuming the deposit was paid before February 15).
- Withdrawal on or after February 15 but before May 1: no refund of the initial deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after May 1 but before July 1: 25% of the total fall semester costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.

- Withdrawal after departure: No refund of the fall semester costs.
- Withdrawal before October 1: Full refund for the total spring semester costs, not including the deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after November 1 but before December 1: 25% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after December 1 but before January 1: 50% of the total costs (tuition, room and board) will be penalized, not including the deposit.
- Withdrawal on or after January 1: No refund.
- Withdrawal after departure: No refund.
Additional Expenses #
Students who withdraw before departure will receive a full refund for the apartment deposit, transcript fee, and public transportation pass, assuming those costs have been paid before departure. There are no refunds for the optional excursion fee(s).
