Internship Guidelines #
Our internship providers work hard to give students a meaningful experience and a glimpse into the Swedish workplace. Thus, we expect students to treat their internship as a serious commitment and to diligently fulfill their tasks as defined by the internship provider. Students should understand that failure to do so might result in canceling their internship at any time during the semester.
Students with concerns about their internship, such as task assignments or scheduling, are expected to discuss the issue with the internship provider in the spirit of mutual cooperation. If you are not comfortable bringing up the issue, or if you discussed the issue and it was not resolved, the Program Manager should be informed. In rare cases, if a student wishes to end the internship early, the student must discuss the situation with the Program Manager before further action is taken. Early termination should only be considered in extreme cases.
We expect you to abide by The Swedish Program’s Terms and Conditions while participating in an internship. This includes acting with respect for the norms, traditions, and rules of the organization; using maturity and reasonable judgment in your conduct; and assuming full responsibility for your behavior.
Students with internships will be required to attend a check-in meeting with the Program Manager during the semester and submit a brief written evaluation of the internship at the end of the semester.
