Moving Out #
To ensure that you receive your full deposit after moving out, please follow these instructions carefully. We expect that you leave the apartment in the same condition as you found it.
Deadline #
Apartments must be vacated on or before December 16th. Andrea will be on-site on December 16th from 9:00–17:00 in the reception area at Bromstensvägen 152 to collect keys.
Key Return #
If you are moving out on Monday, December 16th between 9:00–17:00, follow these instructions:
- Close and lock your apartment door.
- Go to the reception area at Bromstensvägen 152 and hand your apartment key directly to Andrea.
If you are moving out before Monday, December 16th OR on Monday, December 16th before 9:00 or after 17:00, follow these instructions:
- Leave your apartment keys in the drawer under your bed. (Please leave your SL card, too, if you don’t need it.)
- Take a photo of your keys inside the drawer with the apartment number visible on the key tag. (In the rare case that keys go missing, this photo will be your receipt of return. You do not need to send us the photo unless we ask.)
- Close your apartment door and lift the handle, but leave it unlocked.
Personal Belongings #
You may not leave any personal belongings in the apartment. This includes but is not limited to clothes, boxes, books, course literature, personal decor, etc. ONLY leave the items that were in your apartment originally such as kitchenware, towels, bedding, etc. You may also leave cleaning supplies.
If you bought something for the apartment that you don’t want to dispose of, such as a kitchen appliance, consult with Andrea to see if you can leave it behind.
If you need to get rid of extra belongings, you can donate items that are in good, clean condition to second-hand stores like Stockholms Stadsmission or Myrorna. You can also dispose of extra belongings at some recycling stations. Do not wait until the last minute and throw your unwanted belongings in the building’s garbage bins.
Garbage and Recycling #
Please dispose of any garbage or recycling as soon as possible. Do not wait until the last minute and throw all the belongings you want to get rid of in your building’s garbage bins. Doing so is harmful to the environment, disrespectful to your neighbors, and against Swedish law, which requires waste to be sorted into the proper bins.
Food #
DO NOT leave any food in the apartment, including in the fridge, freezer, or cupboards. Non-perishable items such as spices, canned goods, unopened boxes of pasta, etc. may be left in the Swedish Program classroom to donate to future students. Dispose of everything else.
Cleaning #
Please clean the apartment thoroughly, including the following:
- Clean the kitchen (wipe the sink, countertop, cupboards, backsplash, stovetop, oven, kitchen exhaust fan, fridge doors, etc.).
- Clean inside the fridge and freezer.
- Wipe the shelves and drawers in the kitchen.
- Wash all plates, bowls, glasses, cups, cutlery, and utensils, dry them off, and put them back in the cupboards/drawers.
- Wipe the dining table and chairs.
- Empty the closet of all your belongings. Double-check that you haven’t left anything on the highest shelves.
- Wipe the shelves in the closet.
- Wipe the shelves and cupboards by the bed.
- Remove the bed linen from your bed and place it in the hamper in the bathroom along with any dirty towels. Wet towels should be hung to dry in the bathroom.
- Clean the bathroom sink, faucet, shower, shower drain, toilet (both the bowl and the seat/lid), floors, mirror, washing machine, etc.
- Sweep the apartment thoroughly, including under the bed and in the bathroom.
- Take out the trash and recycling. Please remember that recycling is not optional. It is not allowed to put glass, metal, or other recyclables in the general garbage bins. Hazardous materials like batteries and lightbulbs need to be returned to the proper stations. Most grocery stores have a collection bin for batteries and lightbulbs.
- Take the welcome mat in your hallway, as well as the kitchen rug, outside the property and shake them off to remove any dirt and pebbles.
Missing Inventory and Damages #
Confirm that you have four plates, glasses. sets of cutlery, etc. in the kitchen. If you notice that some items are missing, please check with your fellow students, as these items may have been moved around between apartments during the semester while cooking together. If anything is broken, missing, or damaged, make sure to send a fault report about the issue before you vacate the apartment.
Please be advised that the cost of repair or replacement for broken, missing, or damaged items may be recovered from your apartment deposit in accordance with our Damage Agreement.

We are unable to store luggage in the Swedish Program office, and luggage cannot be left in the apartments after December 16th. For storage rental options, see Luggage Storage.
