Epassi Card (Food Subsidy) #

Students receive a monthly food stipend through a digital Visa debit card from the company Epassi. The card is automatically reloaded each month. The reload date is marked in your Epassi account and on Google Calendar.

If you have any questions or problems with your card, please contact Epassi’s customer service team by submitting a support ticket or by calling +46 8-555 172 20. Phones are open Monday–Friday from 8:30–17:00 (closed for lunch between 12:00-13:00).

Activating Your Card #

You will activate your Epassi card after arrival in Stockholm. After you get access your swedishprogram.org email account during orientation, follow the instructions below to access your digital Visa card:

  1. Download the Epassikortet app for iPhone or Android.
  2. Create a password. Open the app and click “Log in with Email & Password,” then “Forgot password or first time user, click here.” Enter your swedishprogram.org email address and click “Reset.” Check your swedishprogram.org email inbox for a new message from Epassi with a link to create your password. After creating your password, return to the app and click “Log in with Email & Password,” then enter your swedishprogram.org email and the password you created.
  3. Add the card to your digital wallet from the app’s dashboard page.
  4. View your PIN code by selecting the icon with three dots in the top right corner, then “View PIN.” Commit your PIN code to memory.

Using Your Card #

You can use your Epassi card for food purchases (cafés, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.) anywhere that Visa debit cards are accepted. If you’re ever unsure if the card will be accepted at a particular store or restaurant, just ask someone who works there or call ahead. The card cannot be used to buy alcohol or tobacco. You can use your card outside of Sweden, but please note that Epassi applies an international transaction fee of 2.95%.

Account and Balance #

Log in to your Epassi account anytime in the app or at lunch.epassi.se/login/email to view your balance, transaction history, card details, PIN code, and the date and amount of your next reload. Any unused balance will roll over to the next month in perpetuity. However, your balance may not exceed 15,000 SEK. If the next reload would raise your balance above 15,000 SEK, reloads will be paused.

Order a Physical Card #

If you prefer to use a physical card, you can order one via the Epassi app. Select the icon with three dots in the top right corner, then “Order physical card.” The physical card costs 150 SEK and the amount will be deducted from your Epassi balance. The card will be delivered to the Swedish Program office, and staff will notify you when the card has been delivered. Do not change the delivery address associated with your account.

Lost or Stolen Card #

If your phone (or if applicable, physical card) is lost or stolen, block the card in your Epassi account as soon as possible. Go to lunch.epassi.se/login/email, click “Card,” then “Order a replacement card.”

Customer Support #

If you have any questions or problems with your card, please contact Epassi’s customer service team by submitting a support ticket or by calling +46 8-555 172 20. Phones are open Monday–Friday from 8:30–17:00 (closed for lunch between 12:00-13:00).
