Fall 2024–Spring 2025 #
Due by your registration deadline #
- Submit the Registration Form.
- Ensure your parent or guardian has submitted the Parent/Guardian Form.
- If applicable, please also:
- Send payment for the $900 tuition deposit if not paid by your school.
- Send payment for the $600 Gotland excursion fee and/or the $675 Arctic Circle excursion fee, or submit the Excursion Fee Waiver Form (see Optional Cultural Excursions).
- Submit the Academic Accommodations Form (see Academic Accommodations).
- Contact [email protected] to request a host family (see Host Family Request).
- Send payment for the $150 official transcript fee if you have been notified that this applies to you (see Statement of Grades & Transcript).
Please send all payments by check payable to The Swedish Program. If your U.S. bank offers online banking, your bank may be able to issue a check directly to us; please add The Swedish Program as a payee using the address below and the phone number (315) 737-0123. For all checks, please include your name and semester in the memo line and remit to The Swedish Program, 2766 Furbeck Rd., Altamont, NY 12009.
Due by April 1 (fall term and academic year) or October 5 (spring term) #
- Follow the steps in our Residence Permit Guide to submit your online residence permit application to the Swedish Migration Agency and submit the Residence Permit Checklist.
Due by July 15, 2024 (fall term and academic year) or December 1 (spring term) #
- Submit the Arrival Form.

- Submit the Independent Study Proposal Form and the $950 Independent Study fee or Independent Study Fee Waiver Form (see Independent Study).

Additional Pre-Departure Tasks #
- Contact your cell phone service provider to ensure your phone is unlocked for global use (see Mobile Phone Service).
- Contact your bank or credit card provider to discuss accessing your funds while abroad and to order a card with a chip and PIN code (see What to Pack).
- Contact your current healthcare providers to discuss managing your physical and mental health while abroad and to arrange a sufficient supply of any necessary prescription drugs (see Prescription Drugs). If you rely on a prescription drug that is not permitted in Sweden (such as certain narcotics) or cannot be issued in sufficient supply, contact [email protected] to be put in touch with our physician in Stockholm.
- Find out how to access your home institution’s digital research catalog while abroad (see Course Literature).
- Make a copy of your passport ID page to leave with your parents/guardian (see Identification).
- Enroll in the STEP travel alert program.
- Inform the Swedish Program at [email protected] of any recent changes or updates to your physical or mental health.
