Apartment Location & Facilities #

Location #

Our student apartments are located in the residential suburban neighborhood of Sundby, approximately 30–40 minutes from SSE by public transit under normal conditions. Such a commute is typical in Stockholm, and the public transit system is safe, reliable, and efficient. Students will receive their exact address and apartment assignment via email before the semester begins.

Furnishings #

The apartments are fully furnished, including sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, hairdryers, and fully equipped kitchens. Students are responsible for preparing their own meals and receive a monthly food subsidy. Students should bring or purchase their own toiletries. For more information, see Apartment Inventory and What to Pack.

A bulletin board is provided in each apartment for personal photos. You may not attach anything to the walls.

WiFi #

All apartments have WiFi (see Wifi and Router).

Communal Spaces #

The apartment complex has several communal spaces for students in building 152. Most of the communal spaces require advance booking.

All communal spaces must be vacated by 23:00 (11:00 PM). If you stay in any of the communal spaces listed below after 23:00 (11:00 PM), an alarm will be triggered and security guards will be called to the space. You will be invoiced for the cost of the security guard call, which is typically 2500–3500 SEK.

Lobby #

The lobby offers a mix of individual and group study spaces. There are also vending machines for snacks, beverages, and coffee.

The lobby is open from 7:00–23:00. Staying past 23:00 will trigger an alert to the security company and result in a fine of 2500–3500 SEK invoiced to you. Please be mindful of the other tenants using the space and keep the volume down when using the study spaces.

Communal Kitchens #

The apartment complex has three communal kitchens that may be booked for dinner parties, cooking/baking together, or other gatherings.

Booking is required and can be done through the Boxxy app. Your booking grants access to the room from 10:00-23:00. Staying past 23:00 will trigger an alert to the security company and result in a fine of 2500–3500 SEK invoiced to the person who made the booking. When your booked time slot starts, check the kitchen inventory and report any missing or broken items. Any items that are missing or broken after your booking will be charged to you. Cleaning is required. Cleaning materials are located in the accessible bathroom nearby. Failure to clean the space will result in a cleaning bill from the property owner.

Cinema Room #

The apartment complex has a small group cinema room with comfortable armchairs and a large television.

Booking is required and can be done through the Boxxy app. The room can be booked from 07:00-15:00 or from 15:30-23:00. Staying past 23:00 will trigger an alert to the security company and result in a fine of 2500–3500 SEK invoiced to the person who made the booking. Cleaning is required. Cleaning materials are located in the accessible bathroom near the communal kitchens. Failure to clean the space will result in a cleaning bill from the property owner. Shoes are not allowed in the cinema room.

Gym #

The shared gym is open to all residents. Booking is required and can be done through the Boxxy app. The gym is open for hourly time slot bookings from 7:00-23:00. Staying past 23:00 will trigger an alert to the security company and result in a fine of 2500–3500 SEK invoiced to the person who made the booking.

When using the gym, bring clean gym shoes and your own towel. Always make sure to put weights and equipment back where you found them and to wipe off the equipment when you have finished working out.

Laundry Rooms #

Each apartment has an in-unit washing machine (see Laundry). Communal laundry rooms are located on the ground floor of each building. Booking is required and can be done through the Boxxy app. The rooms are open for bookings from 6:00-21:00. You must stick to your booked time slot. Don’t forget to cancel your booking if you don’t intend to use it so that someone else can use the room instead.

Use the machines as intended. Do not overfill the machines or force the washing machine doors open mid-cycle. Make sure to remove the lint from the dryer filter after every use. Wipe off the machines, sweep the floor, and double check that you removed all of your laundry when you are finished. The laundry room should always be left in the same condition as you found it.

Don’t forget about the environment – throw empty detergent packaging in the right place and turn off all the lights when you leave.

Recyling Rooms #

See Trash and Recycling.

Insurance #

The Swedish Program purchases property insurance for each student living in an apartment. The insurance is void if your apartment is unlocked. For this reason, and for basic safety, apartments must be locked at all times, including doors, windows, and balcony doors.
